Explanation
To begin with the ‘do’ form of a question, check first with the main verb:
If the main verb is in its first form without any change, the helping verb attached to it is, ‘do’.
Ex: They want to become singers. - Do they want to become…?
If the main verb is in its second form such as wanted, drank, gave etc, the helping verb attached to it is, ‘did’.
Ex: Lucia wanted to become a singer - Did Lucia want to …?
If the main verb takes ‘s’ with it such as wants, drinks, gives etc, the helping verb attached to it is, ‘does’.
Ex: Lucia wants to become a singer. - Does Lucia want to …?
