Happy New Year 2019 My warmest greetings t o all of my dearest students! May this year turn out to be very fruitful year for you, for you will cross an important milestone in your life! You have now reached a stage where all of your hard work so far will culminate in great accomplishment which will pave for a brilliant professional career ahead. Like a well-trained athlete who gives out the best at the nick of the moment, you should prepare yourselves for the ultimate arena, the Board Exams. Keep your spirits high, the preparatory exam scores should take you further up. Just do not waste your time analyzing what went wrong. Start out with a new vigour. There is the time that waits for you to peak. Believe in the best; give it your best, and leave the rest to the Mightiest Spirit. Thanks for your lovely comments and wonderful suggestions so far. Sainath a noted Indian journalist who writes columns regularly in leading journals on issues such as social problems, rural problems and poverty post globalization. P Lankesh is an Indian writer who has written in Kannada language. His story “The Gardener” is a narrative of human competition that turns into rivalry, thanks to greed. The writer has adopted two different modes of narration: the writer sets the tone while the character, Tammanna narrates the whole story. An old man takes up work on a coconut farm near Chennarayapatna after walking several hundreds of miles. He was a labourer, overseer and philosopher, all rolled into one.
